				      <description>  The UIS Visual Arts Gallery is proud to present sculptural installations by Khara Koffel.  The artwork is inspired by personal stories, relationships, and memories that relate not only to the life of the artist, but to the viewer as well. Khara Koffel is a faculty member in the Art Department at MacMurray College, and has exhibited her work at galleries across the country.  The at some point exhibit will be on display in the gallery from Thursday November 5 through Wednesday November 25.

    There will be a reception on Wednesday November 18 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Visual Arts Gallery (HSB 201) with an artist talk by Khara Koffel.   Koffel’s presentation will begin at 6 p.m.   There will be food and refreshments.  The artist’s talk, reception, and exhibit are open and free to the public. 

     The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 				      <description>If you&#39;re looking for a fun family activity, your search is over. Our instructors will teach your family how to climb indoors. This class teaches the same information as Rock Gym 101 but the class size is kept small so we can spend more time with the kids. The adults and children over 11 will learn proper belaying and knot tying skills as well as safety procedures. Children 10 and under will learn knot tying and proper safety procedures.
Whether you just want to let the kids climb or you also want to reach the top, this is a great way to get the whole family involved.
� Class cost is $$20 for parents and children 11-17. $$15 for children 10 and under. There is a minimum of one parent and one child. Participants must all be immediate family, please call to make a reservation.
� Class includes equipment needed for class, two hours of instruction, climbing for the rest of the day after the class, and coupons to use on your next visit.</description>

				      <description>Community Players proudly presents its first musical of the season, The Pajama Game, a musical comedy sponsored by The Sleep Center.  

Winner of the 1955 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 2006 Tony Award for Best Revival, this classic musical deals with labor troubles in a pajama factory, where worker demands for a seven and a half cent raise are going unanswered.  The Pajama Game features such numbers as “Hey There”, “Steam Heat”, and “Hernando’s Hideaway”.
									
Performance dates are October 30 – Nov 1, 5 - 8, &#38; 12 - 15, 2009 with a special Pay-What-You-Can performance on October 29.  Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. for evening performances and 2:30 p.m. for Sunday matinees. All performances take place at Community Players Theatre, 201 Robinhood Lane, Bloomington.  

Call the Box Office at 309/663-2121 or visit www.communityplayers.org to order tickets and for specific box office hours.  Ticket prices are $$6 for children, $$13 for seniors/students ($$11 for Thursday performances), and $$15 for adults.  Season tickets are still available at pro-rated prices.

				      <description>Join us from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bloomington Public Library Community Room as Randall Lloyd, Agriculture Awareness Coordinator for McLean County, gives a presentation on wind turbines. He and his wife own land in Dawson Township, and together with her two brothers they own four wind turbines. They have been in on the Twin Groves Wind Farm project from its inception in 2001. This wind farm and its 240 turbines is located just outside Bloomington on two prominent moraines in eastern McLean County. The farm creates enough energy to power approximately 120,000 Illinois homes with clean energy each year. It obtained commercial operation in March 2007.

				      <description>While you may be prepared with sweaters and shovels for the approaching winter’s icy temperatures and snow, bitter weather conditions also pose dangerous threats to your pets. 

Pet U presents a class entitled “Winter Safety for Pets,” taught by Kandi Norrell, doctor of veterinary medicine, on Monday, November 9, 2009. The class will address specific concerns related to winter, including frost bite, medical conditions that are aggravated by cold weather, and other seasonal hazards.

Class sessions, taught by University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital faculty or staff, area veterinarians, or experts in the field, will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, October through May, at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital located at 1008 West Hazelwood Drive in Urbana.

Pet U, coordinated by the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and the Companion Animal Resource Education (CARE) Center, offers a series of carefully thought out classes designed to show pet owners relevant ways to maintain and improve their pet’s health.
