Willis E. Slaughter Sr.
HUDSON -- Willis E. Slaughter Sr., 74, of Hudson, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 13, 2005) at his home. His funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Fred Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Hospice. He was born Oct. 31, 1931, inHeyworth, the son of Charles Guy and Goldie Rasor Slaughter. He married Doris Sparks Jan. 1, 1960, at Bloomington. She passed away Jan. 21, 2005. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Slaughter of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sons, Chris (Linda) Sparks of Gibson City; Bill (Mary) Slaughter of El Paso; Willis Slaughter Jr. of Bloomington; and Terry Slaughter of Danvers; a sister, Doris Sherman of Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He worked for Rowe Construction driving trucks for 20 years. He was a member of First Christian Church and belonged to the Teamsters Union 26 of Bloomington. Willis used to race stock cars and enjoyed listening to the stock car races on the radio. He also loved fishing,playing cards and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. |
