DWIGHT Walter M. Houck, 81, of Dwight died Tuesday (Dec. 13, 2005) in Odell.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Dwight United Methodist Church. Friends may call one hour before the service.

He was born Oct. 14, 1924, at Dwight, the son of Walter M. and Esther Mickelson Houck. He married Norma J. Burnett on Jan. 17, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters from a previous marriage, Sandra Stirewalt, Dwight; Patricia (Richard) Carey, Cortland; Lana (Douglas) Myers, Peoria; and Lauren Pritchard, Kinsman; one brother, James (Margaret) Houck, Aurora; one sister, Elizabeth Houck, Dwight; seven grandchildren, Lynette Kiper, Teffanie (Aaron) Sands, Julie (Daniel) Patten, Doug (Jennifer) Myers Jr., Amy Myers, Heather Pritchard and Corey Pritchard; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William M. Houck.

He was a member of the Dwight United Methodist Church, the Moose and the Danish Brotherhood.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He owned and operated a radiator and lawn mower repair service in Dwight until he retired. He enjoyed golfing, camping, dancing and watching Nascar races. During his younger years, he drove stock cars at the Mazon Speedway.

Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice in Pontiac.
