Helen Marie Clauser
Helen Marie Clauser, 96, of Delavan died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 17, 2005) at Hopedale Nursing Home. She was born April 30, 1909, near Green Valley, a daughter of Fred J. and Fanny H. Schroen Worner. She married Paul G. Clauser on June 14, 1934, in her Green Valley home. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1985. She graduated from Green Valley High School in 1927 and from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1931. She taught fifth and sixth grades in the Green Valley Elementary School from 1931 to 1934. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Green Valley; the United Methodist Women, serving on district and conference boards; Green Valley Women's Club over 35 years; Green Valley Homemakers Extension Unit; Delavan Historical Society; Delavan XYZ Senior Citizens Group; and Tazewell County Farm Bureau. She taught Sunday school class and attended youth camps in Old Salem, Petersburg and Muskegon, Mich. Survivors include, two sons, Ronald (and Barbara) Clauser of Waynesville, N.C., and Melvin (Linda) Clauser of Delavan; two daughters, Gladys Keefner of Springfield and Clarice (Kenney) Gabbrants of Emden; one brother, Lawrence Worner of Pekin; one sister, Imogene (John) Zelhart of Warrensburg; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson; and two sisters, Mildred Krugler and Dorothy Clauser. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Valley First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Feldman and the Rev. Scott Ireland will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Green Valley First United Methodist Church or to Green Valley Cemetery Association. |
