CLINTON

City of Clinton OKs $1.2 million tax levy

Key action: Adopted a tax levy of $1.2 million for the 2006 fiscal year.n;The levy is 4.84 percent higher than last year's. The biggest increase came from the firefighters' pension fund.

Woodland property tax rate drops

Meeting: Woodland school board

When: Dec. 19

Key action: Learned the property tax rate will decrease 72 cents per $100 equalized assessed valuation from this year's $6.09 per $100 EAV. The rate for taxes payable in 2006 will mean a tax decrease of $365 for the owner of a $150,000 home. Two retirement items did not have to be funded this year.

Next meeting: 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16.

U.S. standards law worries school chief

Meeting: Blue Ridge school board

Key action: learned 75 percent of Blue Ridge students are meeting and exceeding federal standards districtwide, but Blue Ridge Superintendent Jay Harnack has concerns about complying with future No Child Left Behind Act requirements.

Cafeteria addition to be done by February

When: Dec. 19

Key action: Learned the cafeteria addition that is part of the $8 million high school construction project should be completed by the end of February.

PONTIAC

Board favors zoning for wind farms

Meeting: Livingston County Zoning Board of Appeals

When: Dec. 19

Key action: Approved a text amendment to the county's zoning code which will allow wind farms to be built in the county. Energy companies are interested in building wind farms near Blackstone, Odell and Forrest. The County Board had a final say on the amendment.

Wal-Mart plan goes to planning board

Meeting: Pontiac City Council

When: Dec. 19

Key action: Referred the final plat for a lot which will be the new location for a Wal-Mart Supercenter to the Planning and Zoning Board. The new subdivision includes extending Newport Road and Rittenhouse Drive to the south.
