Blaze damages car dealership
BLOOMINGTON — Trash and pallets burned and the back of a building was visibly scorched, but nobody was hurt in a fire behind a south-side car dealership Monday afternoon.
The fire started about 4:50 p.m. at Leman’s Chevrolet City at the intersection of Morrissey Drive and Veterans Parkway. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday evening, but did not appear suspicious, said Bloomington Assistant Fire Chief Gary Sushka.
Light fixture — A faulty fluorescent light likely caused a fire that damaged the outside of a near-east side business Sunday night, a fire official said.
An 11-year-old boy spotted flames coming from the eaves of the building as his family drove by about 7:40 p.m. at Custom Car Care and Auto Sales, 711 E. Washington St. The fire was confined to the area around the light fixture and roof, and investigators found electrical problems with the light fixture, a fire official said.
