Promises not kept from last illegal alien amnesty
Advertisement

In 1965, President Johnson signed Sen. Edward Kennedy's Immigration and Nationality Act, overturning our standing policy of national origin quotas and leading to chain immigration.

In 1986, President Reagan approved Kennedy's bill granting amnesty to 3 million aliens, resulting in more chain immigration.

Reagan promised employer sanctions that would remove the incentives for illegal immigration by eliminating job opportunities. Kennedy promised the borders would be secured, and, ``...we will never bring forth another amnesty like this.''

That amnesty, 21 years of unsecured borders, failure to enforce immigration laws, greedy corporations and businesses desiring cheap labor led to the present crisis.

In 2007, Kennedy again proposed amnesty for at least 12 million aliens. Recently, 49 senators, mostly Democrat, voted to give illegal aliens Social Security benefits.

Rather than protecting and investing Social Security contributions over the past 39 years, Congress has raided the fund for $1.96 trillion - $1.14 trillion of that was spent in the last seven years.

They say Social Security is going broke, yet 49 senators would give benefits to aliens for their illegal work.

The Heritage Foundation estimates it would cost $2.6 trillion to cover retirement benefits for 12 million aliens if the 2007 amnesty had passed.

Some aliens with fake or stolen Social Security numbers pay into Social Security but aren't eligible for benefits. Those payments, amounting to $6 billion a year, go into the Earnings Suspense File with a current total of $519 billion.

Business turns a blind eye to the false Social Security numbers to obtain cheap labor. Taxpayers know there is no cheap labor.

Illegal workers qualify for subsidized rent, food stamps, free health care, legal fees, etc. Let's hold accountable politicians whose concern for the welfare of illegal aliens blinds them to past mistakes - and the welfare of present and future American society.

" I believe we will never win this war against the illegals from wherever they come from until the private citizen takes a stand to protect our country from this terrorist infiltration by these criminals. The law makers know the will of the people, but ,I am afraid until there are more senseless crimes like what happened to the 4 college students this past week we will never get a handle on this. When enough people get really upset then, maybe then some action will be taken. " Maybe if we started voting for who we want and not who the corporations and party bosses want, we would have better candidates. The two candidates who give the most straightforward answers are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich., both whom are deemed not to have much chance. In a perfect world and a better democracy, it would be me, the voter, who decides who is the candidate, not Rupert Murdoch. "

" ...are wasted votes when you vote for someone you don't believe in. I am a Ron Paul supporter and I believe in the mans principles that he has steadfastly adhered to throughout his career. He doesn't sell out like most of the rest of the traitors that are bought and sold by multi-national corporations. Here is just a few of his principles (1) no income taxes! (2) renew the gold standard (2) no war in Iraq (3) secure the borders (4) no Northa American Union (5) respect our Civil Rights and our Constitution. See for yourself...RON PAUL CAN WIN! Oddsmakers in Vegas are giving Ron Paul 8:1 odds on becoming president! "

" So what you want is for teachers, government employees and railroaders to draw both their public retirement plans and SS? No WAY! All of those plans are set up with the assumption that no SS will be paid in addition to them. If any of those people wanted SS, they should have gotten a job that qualifies for social security PERIOD! "

" My family moved to this country in the late 1600's and I am unable to collect my social security due to a bill passed in 1983 under Regan(the Windfall Elimation Provision)or (WEP).there are teachers in 15 states, fireman&policeman through out the US and people who work for the railroad like myself.I had enough time under SS prior to hiring on the railroad in 1969.I was injured while working and put on disability(railroad disability).I am unable to collect my SS but only a small percentage not even enough to pay for my health insurance. There are millions of us all US citizens who can't collect there SS.This law(WEP)should be repealed before any consideration given to illegal immigrants. There have been laws in committe for years to repeal this law(HR-82&S-206)but no one will bring them up for vote. These bills have been in congress when both parties have been in power. " Everyone who reads Richard Salome's letter to the editor should xerox it and keep it to refer to when they talk to their Representative and Senators. It is an excellent letter filled with the facts voters need to hold Congress accountable. Remember to support and vote for Rep. Ron Paul for President, his votes have been to protect our borders, build a security fence and protect our social security benefits. His votes are 100% based on the U.S. Constitution. We need more statesmen like Ron Paul rather than corporate-special interest politicians who do not follow the Constitution. "

" Six years have passed since 9/11 with President Bush in office. We have borders that are controlled by criminals doing $140 billion in narco-trafficking and hundreds of Millions in Human trafficking while Illegal Aliens are killing, raping and robbing American citizens by the 10,s of thousands. Rogue armed Mexican military personnel in the employ of criminal cartels wearing Mexican uniforms are violating our borders in military vehicles. Mexican military personnel in uniform are assaulting National Guard troops stationed at the border. Terrorists can easily come through our borders undetected. President Bush is not and will not build a 700 mile fence along the southern border that both houses of Congress passed with large margins in October of 2006 and that he signed into law. What more can we tolerate from President Bush? "
