Former student charged with stealing college's horse

STREATOR — A former college student has been charged with the theft of a horse spotted during an Independence Day parade in Streator.

Rebecca Barnard, 19, of Granville was charged in Henry County with burglary and theft and is free on $5,000 cash bond. Authorities said she took Sizzle, a Black Hawk College horse kept at the equestrian program in Kewanee. Another Black Hawk student visiting relatives in Streator spotted the animal.
