Edwards leads New Trier to Raider Classic title

BLOOMINGTON — Ryan Edwards fired a 3-under-par 69 to take medalist honors and lead New Trier High School past 20 other schools to claim the team title of the Raider Varsity Classic on Thursday at The Den at Fox Creek.
New Trier placed three golfers in the top 10 en route to a 2-over-par team total of 290, eight shots better than runner-up Marion Catholic.
University High’s Kyle English shot a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for sixth place as the Pioneers placed fourth in the team competition with a 306 total. Eric Meier (75), Logan Stauffer (78) and Kieran Periera (80) all figured in the scoring for University High.
Normal West finished seventh (312) behind Dave Shelton, who also tied for sixth with a 73.
Sean Trolia (78) and Mahomet-Seymour (326) placed 14th, Alex Burge (79) and the host Raiders (338) were 17th, and Chris Wolf (81) and Normal Community (348) followed in 18th.
