COLLINSVILLE -- A 63 year old Normal woman was killed about 1:30 Saturday afternoon on Interstate 55 near Collinsville, just across the river from St. Louis.

Georgia Shaw, of the 1400 block of East College Avenue, together with three other family members, was apparently traveling to a family reunion when the driver of the car she was in veered into the median and crashed, according to information received from WEEK-TV.

Shaw was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, reports said.

No further information was available from the Illinois State Police District 11 in Collinsville Sunday night. The accident remains under investigation.

The Madison County Coroner’s office pronounced Shaw dead at the scene and said that no autopsy would be performed, reports said.

There was no information as to when a coroner’s inquest might be scheduled.

" I met Ms. Georgia when I worked at the apt complex she and her sisters live at and let me tell you this you could not meet a nicer person or family. They watched out for others all the time. My deepest sympathy to Joanne, Dorothy and the rest of the family. May god watch over you during this time. Rest in peace Georgia, just know you touched many people. "

" To Stacy, Dorothy, Joanne, and the rest of the family my heart and prayers go out to you. I don't believe that you could have asked for a better person to be a part of your lives. I feel blessed in having to have met her during my lifetime. I am going to miss you, Ms. Shaw. Know one asked "How you doin' baby?" and "How are them kids?" quite like you could or wear the smile that you wore. "
