Area hoops team wins at nationals
The Twin City Cobras posted an 8-2 record to claim the boys 3rd-4th grade division national championship at the American Youth Basketball Tournament held July 22-July 25 in Bloomington.
Team members include Tyler Coran, Grant Glowacki, Mason Maier, Austin Nice, Connor Oltman, Brian Pauken, Jake Reinhart, Jon Walters, Logan Weise, Arion Worthman and Luke Zenger. Coaches are Greg Reinhart and Mike Pauken.
B-N tennis team 3rd at USTA sectional
The Suzi Davis Travel 12-under advanced tennis team out of Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington took third place recently at the United States Tennis Association’s Midwest Sectional in Indianapolis.
During the three-day tournament, Suzi Davis Travel beat a team from Cleveland and twice beat a team from Ann Arbor, Mich., the final giving Suzi Davis Travel third place.
Team members include Chris Mecherle, Tyler Washington, Sam Totten, Amanda Studnicki, Danielle Davis, Alyssa Reuter and Lauren Yoder. They were coached by Amy Pemberton.
The team capped the tournament by earning the sportsmanship award.
