EUREKA -- Enrollment at Eureka College has increased by 14 percent over last year, college officials announced Tuesday morning.

Enrollment was 680 on Aug. 21, the day before classes began. Last year, first-day enrollment was 587, which was 9 percent higher than 2005 and the highest since 1971.

In a statement, college vice president Brian Sajko said the increase reflects several new activities, including men’s and women’s soccer and a band program; upgraded facilities, including the Bonati Fitness Center; expansion of services, including the organizational leadership degree completion weekend program; and improved quality in the academic programs.

Tuition for students entering the college this fall is $14,800.

" Heartland's enrollment is only up 3%. Geez: Eureka college must've built something really extraordinary. "
