Minonk city administrator resigns post
MINONK -- City Administrator Trent Smith resigned Monday after six years on the job. Mayor Bill Koos would not comment on the circumstances that led up to Smith’s resignation, but Smith said he was forced out. Koos said Smith had been suspended without pay for three days and then suspended with pay from Aug. 15 through Aug. 20. The council unanimously voted to accept Smith’s resignation Monday night at the Minonk City Council meeting. "I don’t know what the reason is either," Smith said. "It’s political, I guess. ... It was kind of forced, but I won’t get into that." Smith said he has no plans other than trying to find another job. Koos said he appreciated the service Smith provided and wished him the best of luck. Koos said the city will look for a new administrator. "The first thing is that the finance committee will process this," he said. "Then the committee and myself will determine the needs of the city against the budget." Koos said he and the committee will draw up qualifications to best address the current and future needs of the city. |
