AeroSpace bus schedules visit

TOWANDA – The NASA AeroSpace bus will appear at the Towanda library from 3 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5.

A visit earlier this month was canceled due to transmission problems.

Graduations may move to Coliseum

NORMAL — Unit 5 school board members will consider moving the district’s high school graduations to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

Bloomington High School’s move to the Coliseum this year was well received, said Jim Braksick, Unit 5’s assistant superintendent of curriculum/instruction.

If the change is approved, Normal Community West would graduate at 2 p.m. May 31 and Normal Community High School would graduate at 6 p.m. May 31. Bloomington High School graduation is June 1.

Fall festival set in Elkhart

ELKHART — The Elkhart Fall Festival will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22.

The event includes a flea and craft market, food, kids’ activities, antique tractor show, a Model A vintage car show, and a farmers’ market.

Other activities include music and a raffle.

Illinois State 150th —Doris Kearns Goodwin, who visits the Twin Cities on Sept. 18, will appear at 2 p.m. at Hansen Student Center, Illinois Wesleyan University, and at 7 p.m. at Braden Auditorium, Illinois State University. Goodwin’s appearance is jointly sponsored by the two university libraries. ISU’s 150th activities end Feb. 14 with a speech. Thursday’s Pantagraph contained incorrect information.

Unit 5 meeting — A quote in a story about Unit 5 Schools which appeared Thursday should have said:

“It has been a number of years since revenues exceeded expenditures by $ 5 million,” said Scott Lay, Unit 5 school board member about the positive results of the tentative budget which will be reviewed and updated in September and is now available for public viewing.

" Finally a use for the Coliseum. Use it a couple days a year for graduations. I know, change access fees to everyone that attends. It will be the biggest crowds drawn... "
