Lightning strike damages Clinton water plant

CLINTON -- Clinton residents were asked to conserve water Friday morning after workers at the city water plant reported damage from a lightning strike.

Clinton Mayor Ed Wollet said the plant sustained damage Sunday night that damaged the computer system that operates city’s wells. The water plant was operated manually this week. “

Thursday night problems developed that further reduced the water supply and caused the need for implementation of the city’s water conservation plan. The cooperation of all citizens is appreciated,” said Wollet.

The plan includes asking individuals to reduce water consumption, including non-essential water usage. Watering lawns and washing cars are among the activities the mayor asked residents to avoid.

" Geez guys, read the story. It says further problems developed yesterday resulting in the request. That's why it's news now instead of Sunday. "
