Illini tennis player Anderson turns pro
CHAMPAIGN — University of Illinois men’s tennis player Kevin Anderson will forgo his senior season to turn pro.
Anderson, who had a strong summer on the USTA Challenger and Futures circuits, added to his accomplishments by qualifying for his first ATP Tour event at New Haven - the last of nine tournament stops during the 2007 US Open Series.
Anderson, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, had a steller junior season, leading the Illini to an NCAA runner-up performance. Anderson also was a semifinalist in the NCAA singles bracket and finished runner-up in the NCAA doubles draw with partner Ryan Rowe of Moline.
