GRAND CHUTE, Wis. — The Peoria Chiefs never led during a 9-4 loss to the host Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Thursday night to split a four-game road trip.
The loss knocked the Chiefs out of sole possession of the Midwest League wild card spot.
Peoria was hitless through five innings against Wisconsin starter Steven Richard (6-4).
Marquez Smith stroked a solo home run for the Chiefs in the eighth. Earlier he had a two-run double.
