A look at the 2007 ISU football roster
2007 ISU football depth chart OFFENSE Wide receivers Jason Horton, 6-0, 185, Sr. Kelvin Chandler, 6-2, 185, Jr. Jake Rourke, 6-3, 195, Jr. Kevett Mickle, 6-3, 195, Jr. ANALYSIS: This group has something to prove with Laurent Robinson in the NFL, but the talent is obvious. It’s possibly the deepest position on the team. Linemen LT – Isaiah Wiggins, 6-4, 290, Sr. Chris Riley, 6-5, 270, Fr. LG-Bill Speiser, 6-5, 300, Sr. Erik Madsen, 6-3, 285, Jr. C-Jonathan St-Pierre, 6-3, 325, Jr. Brad Paul, 6-4, 275, Fr. RG-Joe Niklasch, 6-2, 280, Jr. Erik Madsen, 6-3, 285, Jr. RT-Brandon Joyce, 6-5, 310, Sr. Michael Cross, 6-5, 305, Fr. ANALYSIS: Speiser joins four returning starters in what should be a solid unit. The massive St-Pierre is in better physical condition than a year ago. Skill positions TE-Kedric Meredith, 6-3, 270, Jr. Jeremy Joynt, 6-3, 255, SR. H-Back-Garin Harcar, 5-11, 260, So. Bert Whigham, 6-4, 235, So. ANALYSIS: After the season-ending knee injury to senior H-back Dave Mordis, ISU must make sure this position does not become a liability. Without Mordis, Meredith may be used more as a downfield receiver. RB-Rafael Rice, 5-11, 220, Sr. Parrish Fisher, 5-10, 205, Jr. ANALYSIS: Another deep position. Expect plenty of substituting to keep backs fresh. Cortes Rice, Geno Blow and Mitchell Moore also are hungry for carries. QB-Luke Drone, 6-2, 210, Sr. Preston Earl, 6-2, 220, Fr. ANALYSIS: All-Gateway signal-caller Drone enters his third season as a starter and needs to avoid the interceptions that plagued him late last season. Expected back up Kevin Brockway is sidelined with mononucleosis so redshirt freshman Earl is No. 2 to start. DEFENSE Linemen DE-Adam Blankenship, 6-2, 235, Jr. Brandon Wilson, 6-2, 220, So. DT-Nick Williams, 6-2, 275, Jr. Dave Rivas, 6-3, 255, Fr. DT-Mike Piton, 6-2, 275, Fr. Kaschiev Hunter, 6-2, 300, Jr. DE-Jarek Thomas, 6-3, 275, Sr. Tom Speer, 6-4, 220, So. ANALYSIS: Williams needs to be a run stuffer in the middle. Thomas has the talent to have a huge senior year after moving from inside out to the edge. Linebackers OLB-Pat Cucci, 6-1, 240, Jr. Kyle Siskowic, 6-1, 225, So. MLB-Bill Hronec, 6-2, 225, Sr. Tommie Westbrook, 6-0, 235, Fr. OLB-Kye Stewart, 6-0, 210, Sr. Mark Whitaker, 6-1, 220, Sr. ANALYSIS: While Stewart is a preseason All-American, the rest of this group must show it can hold up against both the run and the pass. Defensive backs CB-Chris Garrett, 6-0, 175, So. Kelvyn Hemphill, 6-2, 180, Fr. CB-Jason Tate, 5-11, 175, So. Kelvyn Hemphill, 6-2, 180, Fr. FS-Tom Nelson, 6-0, 200, Jr. Garry Roberts, 6-2, 210 Sr. SS-Jesse Caesar, 5-10, 190, Sr. Andrew Paschal, 6-3, 205, Jr. ANALYSIS: The cornerbacks are unproven but have performed well in fall camp. Nelson and Caesar are veterans who will provide stability in the back end. SPECIAL TEAMS P-Bobby Kelsey, 6-1, 230, Jr. Kevin Mazur, 5-11, 190, Jr. PK-Kevin Mazur, 5-11, 190, Jr. Tyler Funk, 6-0, 170, Fr. LS-Joe Doyle, 6-2, 230, So. Kyle Siskowic, 6-1, 225, So. ANALYSIS: Kelsey is a solid punter, but the place-kicking situation is a major concern. Neither Mazur nor Funk have shown consistency or the ability to convert field goals from beyond 40 yards.
