Governor expands disaster areas

SPRINGFIELD. — Governor Rod Blagojevich has declared two more Northern Illinois counties state disaster areas.

LaSalle and Grundy counties are now among eight counties given that designation since stormy weather last week.

The governor says he issued the declarations because of flooding that damaged homes and businesses in both counties.

The declaration makes a range of state resources available to help people repair flood-related damage.

Blagojevich earlier declared Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties disaster areas.

Torrential storms and powerful winds swept through the region last week, knocking down trees and power lines.

More than 600,000 ComEd customers lost power last week. ComEd says 2,250 are still without power.

" In total agreement with Declared Disaster...maybe if he'd quit flying his private jet on a daily basis he wouldn't have to cut spending on needed areas ie: autistic children etc..... "
