Heritage Enterprises completes reorganization
BLOOMINGTON -- Heritage Enterprises has completed a corporate reorganization of its 22 Heritage Manor nursing homes in a change that is expected to have no direct impact on the nursing homes’ employees and residents.
“We’ve modernized the organization of the company so that each nursing home operates as a stand-alone business,” Heritage Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Steve Wannemacher said Tuesday. “There will be no noticeable changes to the employees or residents of the facilities.”
Each nursing home remains under the Bloomington-based parent company, Heritage Enterprises. But the change breaks up Heritage assets so each nursing home operates as a limited liability company that can respond to its market, Wannemacher said.
Restructuring allows each nursing home more flexibility regarding vendors and insurance, Wannemacher has said.
The change has been approved by the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board. The final part of the reorganization was approved by the board at its most recent meeting, according to its board’s Web site.
The reorganization, which began last year, affects 22 Heritage-owned nursing homes statewide but not another 10 nursing homes that Heritage manages but doesn’t own, Wannemacher said.
The 22 nursing homes have about 2,200 full- and part-time employees and about 2,100 residents, Wannemacher said. All 32 nursing homes include more than 3,000 full- and part-time employees and about 2,900 residents.
