Sheridan parade

BLOOMINGTON — District 87 Superintendent Bob Nielsen will be the grand marshal today for Sheridan Elementary School’s 17th annual Back to School parade.

Honored guests this year will be the family of Ellen Smith, a music teacher who died of cancer this year.

The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and runs east on Walnut Street to Morris, north on Morris to Forest, west on Forest to Livingston and south on Livingston back to the school.

Children will have lunch in the park and take part in activities supplied by the Children’s Discovery Museum.

" I am amazed that this has happened for 17 years. Kudos to everyone involved. This spirit and support for Sheridan's children is very special. I hope every school in Bloomington / Normal finds a way to make their students feel excited about the beginning of a new school year! "
