Chiefs remain 1 game back

PEORIA -- Robert Hernandez pitched six shutout innings and won his second straight start as the Peoria Chiefs earned a series split with a 5-0 win over the Kane County Cougars on Wednesday night at O’Brien Field in Peoria.
The win, coupled with a Cedar Rapids victory, kept the Chiefs a game behind the Kernels in the wild card race.
Hernandez picked up his seventh win by allowing four hits while striking out one.
Reliever Casey Lambert pitched two scoreless innings and Matt Maradeo pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to complete the Chiefs’ 13th shutout of the season.
