McBurney named UIF executive of the year

Bloomington Extreme vice president and general manager Jerry McBurney was named the executive of the year by the United Indoor Football league.
McBurney, a native of Normal and graduate of Illinois State, helped head coach Ted Schmitz bring together a team that finished 9-8 and played in the Eastern Conference championship game after going 5-10 in its first season a year ago.
Radio voice Greg Halbleib was named broadcaster of the year for the second straight year, while Steve Jarvis was named intern of the year. The Extreme also was voted to have the league’s best Web site.
