Second bird in Woodford County has West Nile Virus
EUREKA — A second bird has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Woodford County, the county health department said Thursday. Both birds were found in the Germantown Hills area.
The health department will continue to set traps throughout the county to monitor mosquito pools. The virus may be transmitted to humans from the bite of a mosquito that picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird.
The health department warned people to continue to wear insect repellent with DEET when spending time outdoors.
