Judge, state’s attorney candidates announce plans to run

Two people have announced they are running next year for positions in the local legal community.

Livingston judge

Associate Judge Jennifer H. Bauknecht of Pontiac has announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for circuit judge in Livingston County.

Bauknecht seeks to succeed Judge Harold J. Frobish, who will retire July 14, 2008.

Bauknecht is married to Scott Bauknecht, community president of Freestar Bank in Pontiac. They live in Pontiac with their three children, Colton, Gavin and Jace.

DeWitt state’s attorney

Dick Koritz has announced that he will be a candidate for the Republican nomination for DeWitt County state’s attorney.

Koritz was the assistant public defender in McLean County assigned to the capital murder cases and major drug and sex cases. He has been the state’s attorney of DeWitt County in the past.

He is the only attorney in DeWitt County certified as a lead attorney in death-penalty litigation cases.

Both will be candidates in the Feb. 5 primary. The general election will be Nov. 4, 2008.
