IWU football 2007 schedule overview
Saturday – At Coe, 1 p.m. Coe set the tone for the Titans’ disappointing 2006 season by converting a game-tying 84-yard TD pass with 39 seconds remaining in the first half. IWU can’t afford a replay. Sept. 8 – At Olivet (Mich.), noon Olivet will be looking for some payback after losing at Wesleyan Stadium last season. Sept. 15 – Mount St. Joseph, 1 p.m. The Titans end a difficult nonconference slate against a tough foe. The Lions are favored to win their fourth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title. Sept. 29 – Augustana, 6 p.m. What a way to kick off the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season. The starting time and the opponent should attract a large, festive crowd that could give IWU a boost against the Vikings. Oct. 6 – At Carthage, 1 p.m. Motivation shouldn’t be a problem for the Titans. Carthage erupted for 21 points in the final 6:52 last season to stun IWU at Bloomington. Oct. 13 – Millikin, 1 p.m. IWU needed overtime to defeat their archrivals last season. Expect another barnburner between two teams looking to move up in the league standings. Oct. 20 – Elmhurst, 1 p.m. The much-improved Bluejays won’t be homecoming fodder for the Titans. Elmhurst has won three of the last four meetings after dropping 17 straight to the Titans from 1986-2002. Oct. 27 – At North Park, 1 p.m. North Park hasn’t beaten IWU since 1985, a 21-game stretch. Make it 22. Nov. 3 – At North Central, 1 p.m. The Cardinals are flying high behind sixth-year coach John Thorne, an IWU graduate who guided the program to its first playoff win last season. Thorne has won four straight over his alma mater. Nov. 10 – Wheaton, 1 p.m. IWU, picked to finish seventh in the CCIW preseason coaches poll, will be a heavy underdog against the league favorite.
