SUV hits power pole near Washington School

BLOOMINGTON -- A single vehicle accident Friday near Washington Elementary School in Bloomington knocked out power in a small part of that area, but the school was not affected and classes were to begin on time.

A black, SUV struck a pole at 6:09 a.m. at 1216 E. Washington St., police said.

Ameren IP reported six outages in the area, but the school, located at 1201 E. Washington St., did not lose power.

The driver of the SUV suffered a knee injury, but declined transportation to a hospital, said police.
