Learn lessons from incident in Pontiac
To all my former students, I thank God you are all safe. I know you were scared, especially when you didn't know exactly what was going on. I am so proud of all of you - for staying calm, for being strong and for realizing that you can only be a victim if you allow yourselves to be one! To the PTHS staff, I am so glad we are blessed with such wonderful people. The students reacted so well because the staff reacted in a calm, professional manner. To the police department, thank you for taking such good care of all of us. People need to remember these courageous people place their lives on the line each and every day. We need to embrace them for their courage, not accuse them of wrongdoings that we all know is a lie! To the very courageous student that told authorities of the situation, thank you! To the parents who were worried about their children. I know no one can love your child as much as you do, but please realize that teachers do care for each and every one of their students. We are trained to manage a situation like this, and know how to keep your child safe. The students were not released to anyone, not because the staff at PTHS wanted to keep your child away from you, but because research has shown this is the best way to keep the students safe. Now, let's get on with life! There are lessons to be learned, homecomings to be enjoyed, football games to attend and life to be celebrated! Cheryl Krueger Pontiac |
