ISU volleyball vs. St. Louis University preview
A brief preview of ISU volleyball's home game against St. Louis University Site: Redbird Arena Time: 7 p.m. today Records: ISU 5-2, Saint Louis 5-1 Coaches: Anne Kordes is 58-44 in four seasons at Saint Louis. Sharon Dingman is 130-89 in eight years at ISU. ISU injuries: Outside hitter Katie Seyller remains side-lined by a sprained left ankle. What to watch for -- Bridget Fonke leads Saint Louis with 4.86 kills per game on .396 hitting. Setter Whitney Roth adds 12.07 assists. -- The Redbirds are coming off back-to-back wins over 2006 NCAA Tournament qualifiers Alabama-Birmingham and Alabama. Points of interest -- Saint Louis, an NCAA Tournament qualifier in 2006, was picked to win the West Division of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Billikens, who have five starters and their libero back from a 22-9 squad, shared last year’s league title with Dayton. -- SLU won the Radisson Hotel Invitational in Peoria by beating Bradley, Montana and Western Illinois. -- ISU leads the series, 3-1. Talking the talk -- “Our team played with a lot of emotion against a good team from a good conference. It was a huge win for us.” – Saint Louis coach Anne Kordes after Friday’s 3-0 win over Bradley. -- “I have a very close relationship with our setters, and Erin (Lindsey) has told me numerous times that she has confidence in every one of her hitters this season.” – ISU coach Sharon Dingman.
