5 years ago (2002): Monica Renfrow sparked the Normal West High School volleyball team to a 15-9, 13-15, 15-4 victory over Bloomington with team highs in service points with 12, kills with 10 and assists with 13.
15 years ago (1992): Illinois State quarterback Adrian Wilson spread the wealth and the Redbirds rang up a 51-12 victory over Southwest State of Minnesota. Wilson directed the ISU offense to 546 yards and the most points a Redbird team has scored since it opened the 1984 campaign with a 54-0 victory.
25 years ago (1982): Bill Kennedy pitched a perfect game in the second contest of the day for the Bloomington Hearts in the Amateur Softball Association Class AA Midwest Fast Pitch Regional at Aurora. The Hearts defeated Aurora Creative DJ, 6-4, and stopped the Indianapolis A’s, 1-0, on Kennedy’s perfect effort.
50 years ago (1957): Most Lakeside County Club men would rate No. 2 as the greatest hazard to a low score at the southeast side golf club. Earl Erion, who has played at Lakeside for almost a quarter-century, says it is an easy 3 or a hard 10. The road is on one side to worry you and the lake on the other.
