Houseworth 2nd for Air Force
Eureka High School graduate Sean Houseworth, a junior on the Air Force Academy cross country team, placed second to lead his team in a season-opening triangular meet at Laramie, Wyo., Aug. 31, clocking 22 minutes, 7 seconds for a 4.25-mile course. He was among three finishers to break the course record of 22:12. Air Force won the meet over Colorado State, 32-39.
Flanagan grad CCIW player of the week
Millikin’s Albana Gashi has been named co-player of the week in volleyball by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Gashi, a graduate of Flanagan High School, is a junior outside hitter/defensive specialist and was named to the Illinois College All-Tournament team after helping Millikin to a 3-1 record to open the season. She led Millikin with 86 digs and had a team-high 10 aces.
