Intercity volleyball: BHS wins Jacksonville tourney

Bloomington beat Chatham Glenwood 25-19, 25-8 in the championship match of the Jacksonville Tournament.
The Purple Raiders won all five of their tournament games to maintain their perfect overall record of 8-0.
Seniors Ashley Beyer and Kristin Stauter were named to the all-tournament team.
West finishes fourth
Normal West lost to Metamora, 25-14, 20-25, in the third-place game at the Jacksonville Invitational.
The Wildcats’ Kelsey Detweiler totaled 101 digs in five games; Allyson Keith had 81 assists and Laura Wilcox put down 46 kills.
West finished 3-2 overall in the tournament with wins over Quincy, Peoria Richwoods and Springfield Lutheran.
U High sixth at Effingham
St. Louis Nerinx Hall defeated University High, 25-21, 25-21, in the fifth-place match of the Crossroads Classic at Effingham despite nine kills and seven service points from all-tournament performer Taylor Bruns.
U High (5-2) opened with a 25-8, 25-14 loss to nationally ranked Wheaton St. Francis. The Pioneers bounced back with a 25-18, 21-25, 25-15 win over Effingham.
