Woman charged with theft from residence

FARMER CITY -- A 36-year-old Farmer City woman has been charged with felony theft after a two-month investigation of a series of thefts from a rural Farmer City residence.

Dawn Hawkins was given a notice to appear pending an arraignment Sept. 26, DeWitt County Sheriff’s Roger Massey said Monday. The theft involved cash and jewelry with a total value of several thousand dollars where Hawkins worked as a housekeeper, the sheriff said.

" Maybe it was some kind of accident and she didnt know it was stealing. The article said she was a housekeeper so maybe she was cleaning the jewlery and misplaced it in a way so that it looked like it was stealing. "
