Volleyball: Hartem takes down Tremont

Lacey Shelabarger hammered 11 kills and Kelsi Ubbenga registered eight service points to spark Hartsburg-Emden to a 25-17, 25-17 nonconference win over host Tremont. Jillyn Cross handed out 20 assists for Hartem while Nikki Eeten chipped in three aces.
Brie Schwiegert had five service points, including two aces, and five digs to lead Tremont.
EPG tops Roanoke-Benson
Freshman Moli Copple recorded seven kills to lead El-Paso-Gridley to a 25-10, 25-13 victory over Roanoke-Benson in a nonconference match at El Paso. Janelle James led the Titans (8-2) with 12 service points while Mattie Fairchild added 26 assists. Marqui Fairchild had one block and five digs for EPG.
Iroquois West falls to GCMS
The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley volleyball team had little trouble defeating Iroquois West, winning 25-19, 25-22 in Gilman. Freshman Christine Eshleman finished with nine digs for the Raiders, while Brittany Buckner added seven.
Fieldcrest wins on road
Kayla Conroy had 20 assists and Sarah Stremlau recorded nine kills as Fieldcrest improved to 4-1 with a 25-14, 19-25, 26-24 nonconference win over Woodland in Streator.
Pontiac downs Flanagan
Tessa Kane (12) and Loni Mackinson (11) each reached double-digits in assists in Pontiac’s 25-17, 20-25, 25-21 road-win over Flanagan.
Flanagan received 15 kills from Karie Timmerman and Jessica Oester recorded 11 assists. The win boosted Pontiac’s record to 3-6. Flanagan is now 6-9.
CPCI falls on the road
Kayla Heideman recorded 10 assists for CPCI, but Bismarck-Henning took the final two games to beat the Timberwolves, 20-25, 25-8, 25-15 in a nonconference match at Bismarck.
PBL falls to Centennial
Jamie Garrell led PBL with eight service points in a 25-13, 25-13 nonconference loss to Champaign Centennial at Paxton. Caitlin Carson recorded four digs and Jenna Seibring tallied four kills for the Panthers.
