Redbirds move up to No. 15 in coaches’ poll

NORMAL -- With a 43-17 victory Saturday night over Murray State, the Illinois State football team moved up three spots to No. 15 in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) coaches’ poll Monday.
The Redbirds (1-1) are among five Gateway Conference teams in the Top 25 for the second straight week.
Northern Iowa is the league’s highest-ranked team in this week’s coaches’ poll at No. 5. Southern Illinois (sixth), Youngstown State (tied for seventh), Illinois State (15th) and Western Illinois (21st) represent the league this week.
The Redbirds face No. 17 Eastern Illinois at 6 p.m. Saturday in Charleston.
Appalachian State (2-0) remains at No. 1, receiving every first-place vote.
