Hearing set for juvenile in Pontiac gun case
By Pantagraph staff
PONTIAC -- An adjudicatory hearing, the equivalent of a trial for minors, is set next week for a 15-year-old boy involved in the Pontiac Township High School gun sale case, but prosecutors are still waiting on key evidence to present that could delay the hearing.
First Assistant State’s Attorney Carey Luckman said Tuesday witnesses have been subpoenaed regarding the case, and fingerprint evidence, which Luckman said represented the bulk of the prosecution’s case, is being worked on. An independent expert witness who specializes in fingerprinting is set to testify at the hearing.
The hearing is set for Sept. 25 in Livingston County Circuit Court.
The juvenile is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly held one of the six guns brought to Pontiac Township High School by Sean Sullivan, 16, of Odell, in order to sell to Martin Huerta Jr., 15 of Saunemin. The incident caused a 3 ½-hour lockdown. Sullivan and Huerta are being tried as adults.
