Two Bloomington Extreme players entered in AAFL’s draft

Bloomington Extreme football players Quince Holman and Glenn Johnson have been notified that their names will be placed in the All-American Football League draft on Jan. 11, 2008.

The All-American Football League will replace NFL Europe this season with two teams located in Florida, and one each in Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee and Texas.

Holman attended a predraft camp in Detroit last week and was among 30 players from a pool of 200 to make the draft.

“It was a positive deal and guarantees me a spot in the draft, but I still have to make a team once I’m drafted,” said the 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman.

Holman, a Northern Illinois University graduate, ranked seventh on the Extreme in tackle points with 34.5 on 21 solos and 27 assists in 11 games. He also had eight tackles for a loss of 51 yards and 6.5 quarterback sacks for 44 yards.

Johnson ranked second in the United Indoor Football League in receptions (76), receiving yards (934), recep-tions per game (5.43) and average yards per game (66.7).

The 6-1, 195-pound wide receiver, who played in college at Indiana University, averaged 12.3 yards per catch and scored 14 touchdowns to rank third on the Extreme in scoring.

Johnson is the Extreme’s career leader in receptions with 118 in two seasons. He also is the leader in receiving touchdowns (25), receiving yards (1,481).

“This is a great opportunity for both Quince and Glenn,” said Extreme coach Ted Schmitz. “They are both good enough to play at the next level.”
