Amendment about Iran turns away from peace
Advertisement

At a time when we are trying to protect our soldiers from increased violence and bring our nation back to a quasi-peaceful state, the Lieberman-Kyl amendment does just the opposite.

This is a slap in the face to the American people and a shot in the heart to our soldiers.

Then go buy some books and read them. It'll do you some good. Anything that gets you to turn off your TV. "

" ...is your basis for a time frame man? You stated that on Aug 3 the nukes were diverted. You stated that 2 of deaths of involved airmen were on July 5 & July 20. Unless these airmen were involved from the grave Wat, how in the heck did they die before the incident took place but were involve in the incident? Last time I checked July precedes Aug, so please explain yourself. Hey, if I am wrong then I stand to be corrected but if you don't even know what day or what month it is then......just forget it. "

They hate us because more than one religion is thriving in our society. They hate us because we have an economy built on commerce. It's time to ignore the washed up, over aged hippies and nuke the whole middle east. Seriously. That's what it's going to come to. It has nothing to do with my God is bigger than yours. It has to do with these people's sole intent in life being the destruction of anything resembling a free and reasonable society. "

" "Iran has been a declared enemy of the United States since 1979." Ah, yes, that was when we overthrew their democratically elected leader in 1953, and installed the dictatorship that led to the hostage crisis. Allying with Saddam Hussein in the attrocious Iraq-Iran War was also a really good way to mend the past. "

How naive must you believe that nuclear weapons are accidentally shipped around the US, even though flying nuclear weapons over the US has been banned for decades. You must really enjoy our troops butchering people around the world. "

" OGS Wrote ".....some current military believed more in the USA rather than Bush neocon maniacs and diverted 6 nukes headed to the Mid-East to Louisiana. That was 2 weeks ago and since, 7 people (including 2 airmen - following orders) died in seperate incidents." That incident OGS describes occurred on August 30, 2007. But the 7 people OGS says died since the incident didn't all die after the incident, 2, died in July and 2 more died before the incident was detected. And 2 of the 7 young men is not have anything to do with the diversion. The fact that knew about the diversion wa common knowledge in their unit, so why were they singled out? OGS asks if I believe that they participated from the grave. And the answer is no. Wat asks OGS if he is stating that the dead airmen were killed because the government knew what they were up to? And if that is the case, how, precisely, did these dead airmen arrange to divert the bombs? OGS has conflated the unfortunate deaths of some men and a shipping error involving nuclear weapons. "

" With a 100,000 American mercenaries in Iraq getting over $10 billion per year from the US taxpayer, how can Bush/Pelosi stop this war? It makes tons of profit for our war industry not to mention millions of dollars in graft money to our corrupt Republican/Democrat politicians. Remember posters, America is built of profit, not peace. " Thank you so much for your reply. Would you please explain how people involved with the date of Aug 3, died on July 5 & July 20. So Wat...are you saying that they were involved from the grave? Wow...doo doo doo doo (think the Twilight Zone theme) And involvement has nothing to do with whether they were at the receiving station or sending station. Being involved is being involved. And I don't think they were killed because they failed to follow orders, more like "they knew too much," would be my guess. Further ole military man, surely you must know that a handful of airmen didn't do this alone. There had to be some very high up people involved when it comes to nuclear weapons. Further Wat, your premise that Russia wouldn't care if Iran fired a few nukes (still Iran doesn't have them or delivery means) our way is just plain stupid. Without blowing my 200 word limit Wat, it is the idiot that is the first to push the (nuke) button as in pre-emptive nuclear war is the one that the world is afraid of. "

" Let's recapp, OGS thinks poor old deluded Wat mindless drinks the kool-aid helpfully provided by the adminstration because 1) he doesn't realize that Russia will rein in the mullahs if they get to frisky and 20 poor old Wat doesn't realize that air force officers and men were killed because they failed to transport nuclear weapons to Iraq? Have I got that straight? Sorry, but I don't agree. With all the good will in the world, why would russia care if the Iranians lob a bakers dozen nuclear tipped missiles our way? Of course, I expect they will go to great trouble to ensure we know they didn't attack us. As for the conspiracy theory stuff, well, one should take care of the timeline when reporting events like this. For instance consider that the nuclear bombs were diverted on August 03th, but one of the dead irmen, Adam Barrs died on July 5, Lt. Kessel died on July 20 and two of the remaining airmen were stationed at BarksdaLE, THE RECIEVING STATION, not the station the weapons were diverted from. OGS dropped a clanker this time. "

" Wat google a world map and note the location of Iraq and Iran. Do ya think that Russia & China are going to ignore them because we leave town? That is their neighbors and those guys will squash them if they get out of hand. We are clear across the Atlantic Wat. And (big) IF, IraqIran gets nukes, they have no military to back it up with. This war is about OIL! For the USA or any country to pre-empt nuclear war is INSANE! CRAZY! COO-COO FOR COCOA PUFFS! Get it? Sadly Wat you don't get it cause you are ex-military take orders no matter what. Thank God that some current military believed more in the USA rather than Bush neocon maniacs and diverted 6 nukes headed to the Mid-East to Louisiana. " After reading for 40 years how a little bit of backbone and resolve we could have nipped WWII in the bud, it seems to me that OGS and his satellights have a very short term and blinkered outlook. Just because Iran can't loft nuclear tipped missiles to New York, Los Angles and Berkley today doesn't mean that if we give them time and room to work, they won't develop that capability in our lifetimes. Shall we adopt the long view of our President? or listen to the nay-sayers that insist we have nothing to worry about. "

Wat Tyler responds wrote on Sep 29, 2007 1:08 PM:

" Dear Walt raises a good, but not very valid point. I will respond by asking for a bit of clarification. First how would America benefit by letting Mossadegh steal the assets of the Angl Indian Oil Company, the raison d'entre behind the coup was to prevent this kleptocracy masquarading as a democracy from robbing us blind. By the way, Dr. Mossadegh had previously dissolved parliament in amove that was seen as unconstitutional by his enemies and his allies, and offered as his excuse that while he was technically in violation of the written constitution, he was only following the spirit and will of the people. And finally, can the learned gentlemen explain how we installed the Shah of Iran during the 1953 revolution when he ascended to the manarchy of Iran in 1941? or, alternatively how the mullah-cracy of Iran today is connected to the kleptocracy of the dictatorial (but dmocratically elected) Dr. Muhammed Mossadegh? Thanks in advance for your response. "

" Even Kissinger & Greenspan have finally admitted that the invasion of Iraq was for the oil...like those of us with any sense already knew. With the exception of doing the bidding of Israel, it has always been about the oil. Iraq, Iran, etc. DO NOT have the capability to mount an attack on us...no nukes...no delivery system! The USA government has been marching around the world for too long "bringing democracy" to the third world countries while stifiling democracy at home. Our economy policy is about to push us into 3rd world status. Pay attention to the dollar folks. We are in a financial mess that will get worse before it gets better and it is high time WE MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS! The only terrorists I fear is the Bush Administration as bullies with a doomed monetary policy! "

However, the Bush apologists wants us to worry about Iran which is 7,000 miles away. We should be worried about Israel as the largest producer of terror in the Middle East. "

Their constant incitement, promises of violence and encouragment and support of more active opponents of our way of life can only lead any thinking American to conclude that the only reason these malevolent mullahs haven't caused more problems is because of geography, they are too far away. So at the exact moment they are incresing the range of their missiles, they are proclaiming in their loudest voice their increaing ability and determination to produce enriched uranium, the active component of nuclear weapons? And all we do is produce a wimpy amendment to abjure the persian? If this is a demonstration of how our legislators intend to protect our nation, we should be afraid, very afraid. "
