Evelyn M. Smith
NORMAL - Evelyn M. Smith, 86, Normal, died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2007) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Normal, with Pastor Marvin Matzke officiating. Burial will be at Dana Cemetery, Dana. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born May 14, 1921, at Streator, daughter of Andrew and Anna Sabol Harbach. She married Charles J. Smith on Aug. 10, 1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Streator. Pastor John Daniel officiated. Charles survives.
A son, Jeff Smith of Normal, also survives.
Her parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
She had been a member of the congregation at Christ Lutheran Church for many years.
Evelyn graduated from Streator High School with the class of 1939, and was soon employed at the Anthony Company, until 1946. She was last employed as a secretary at State Farm in Bloomington, until her retirement in 1983.
She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be sadly missed.
