NCHS volleyball team turns back Lincoln
Jenny Menendez served 10 points, including five aces, and contributed 10 digs on the defensive side as the Normal Community High School volleyball team bested Lincoln, 25-17, 25-16, Thursday in a nonconference match at Normal.
Paige Lay registered seven kills and two blocks for the Ironmen (17-5), while Rachel Feldman had 10 digs and Vanessa Gerig handed out nine assists.
Ashley Bonaparte led Lincoln with 11 assists and five service points. Jamie McFadden hammered a match-high 11 kills, while Samantha Lowman added nine digs for the Railsplitters.
BHS slams Eisenhower
Seniors Kristen Stauter, Latrice Wood and Ashley Beyer supplied plenty of offense in leading Bloomington past Decatur Eisenhower, 25-6, 25-2, in a Big 12 match at Bloomington.
Stauter had a match-high 15 service points including four aces and a season-high 25 assists. Latrice Wood recorded eight kills for the Raiders (24-1, 7-0). Ashley Beyer added seven kills and seven digs.
Normal West dumps Urbana
Kelsey Detweiler tallied 11 service points, two aces and 16 digs to push Normal West (15-10, 4-2) past Big 12 rival Urbana, 25-18, 25-13, at Normal.
Senior Allyson Keith had 13 assists for the Wildcats. Laura Wilcox chipped in eight kills.
U High outlasts Pontiac
Ashlee Sang had 10 service points and 13 digs as University High scored a 25-21, 25-16 Corn Belt Conference victory over host Pontiac.
The Pioneers got seven kills and two blocks from Carly Schumacher while Maggie Bee distributed a match-high 15 assists.
Pontiac was led by Ashley Timmerman with eight kills and three blocks. Loni Mackinson added 14 assists and three digs for the Indians.
Saints overcome Eureka
Megan Schmidt had 13 kills and Laura Lanzerotte nine service points for Central Catholic in a 25-18, 25-14 Corn Belt win over Eureka at Bloomington.
The Saints moved to 15-9 overall and 8-2 in the Corn Belt. Sarah Moyer led the Hornets with six digs.
