PEORIA -- Country heavyweight Brad Paisley is returning to Central Illinois with his “Bonfires and Amplifiers Tour.”

Paisley, along with opening acts Rodney Atkins and Chuck Wicks, will perform in the Peoria Civic Center Arena on Feb. 22.

Ticket information will be announced at a later date.

Paisley’s current single, “Online,” hit No. 1 on the R&R Country Singles chart this week, just as his tour goes into the weekend playing sold-out shows in Detroit, Cincinnati and Washington, DC.

“Online,” became the singer’s ninth career chart-topper since he first hit the top spot in December 1999 with “He Didn’t Have To Be.

Among artists who’ve landed No. 1 songs since that time, Paisley leads the list.

Meanwhile, Paisley tied with George Strait for the most CMA Awards nominations this year with five, including Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album (“5th Gear”), Single (“Ticks”) and Video (“Online”).

The awards show will air Nov. 7 on ABC.

" ...how many events have you been to and are you going to all that you mention: "

" diverse...I don't think so. It's like we get the left overs of acts that nobody wants to schedule .. .and once again...the globetrotter tickets are the most expensive in the country........"especially for a venue several thousand seats less than the others you cite. "...yeah that's correct...few thousand less and that's the problem..had their been a few more seats...they could have lowered the ticketing fees and then filled more seats....I was always one to support the idea...but they went about it the wrong way and now it's doomed....there is nothing that anyone can do. "

" As usual, you have no idea what you are talking about and are lying anonymously in public again. Your original point was how many more acts Peoria and Champaign have scheduled than Bloomington. Wrong on that. And as far as 'hearing' from your contact about Sammy Hagar...they just released more tickets because the stage has been moved back as a result of brisk ticket sales. That is a sign of a near sellout. Your opinion and the fact that you are likely a hermit does not change the fact that the upcoming lineup is the most diverse in downstate IL, especially for a venue several thousand seats less than the others you cite. "

" Oh..I've checked the schedules and it appears that Peoria and Champaign are always one up on old Bloomington...the events you speak of were things that Bloomington could have had....Let's see: Bob Dylan (I'll give you that one), Pro beach volleyball (give me a break ), Chicago..(will play anywhere that people will see them.old and over the hill), Sammy Hagar (heard from a person in the ticket office that they are not selling well), Harlem Globetrotters (according to their website we have the most expensive tickets in the country), Prairiethunder is a horrible hockey team. " Bloomington could have gotten Sugarland except Sesame St. was already scheduled "

" Saw him for the mud tour, the alcohol tour, and will go to this one somehow. As a heavy metal guitar player, Brad is the only artist I listen to in the country genre. Humor and good licks.. what more can you want? "

" It's amazing how you don't check schedules before you comment. Let's see, Peoria: Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, all country acts. Champaign: Travis Tritt (cancelled), John Mellencamp (already played Bloomington). Coliseum: Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Pro Beach Volleyball, Chicago, Jars of Clay, Sammy Hagar, Harlem Globetrotters, PrairieThunder hockey, more to come. You're blind criticism is really getting old. " Our wonderful coliseum does not seat enough - major performers like Brad and George Strait want a place that will hold over 10.000 people "
