CHAMPAIGN -- A rock triple-header led by Arkansas’ most famous alt-rock band and a holiday concert by country queen Wynona Judd have been added to the year-end schedule of the University of Illinois Assembly Hall.

The rock triple-header is top-lined by Evanescence, who’ll be preceded on stage by special guests Sick Puppies and Julian K.

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28, with tickets priced at $32.50 and $38.50.

A pre-sale for U of I students begins at 10 a.m. Friday (Oct. 12), followed by a general ticket release at 10 a.m. Saturday via the Assembly Hall box office and area Ticketmaster outlets.

Evanescence, formed in Little Rock in 1998, hit the rock mainstream with 2003’s album, “Fallen,” which won the band two Grammy Awards. Their most recent release was 2006’s “The Open Door.”

Though originally categorized as a Christian rock band when “Fallen” was released, band members eventually asked that they no longer be considered as representative of that genre.

Meanwhile, Judd’s “A Classic Christmas Tour” has been slated for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13, with tickets priced at $33.50 to $42.50. They go on sale via the Assembly Hall box office and Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Oct. 20.

The holiday tour is tied to Judd’s “A Classic Christmas” album, which hit the Top 10 rankings on Billboard’s country album chart.

The tour kicks off Nov. 22 with her appearance in the 81st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

" Well, if Evanescence would be such a draw among ISU and IWU students, then perhaps you should be questioning why they are not playing Redbird, Braden or even the Shirk Center. They could be a good use of a concert budget for a big city House of Blues or university facility, but not for a 7,000 seat off campus venue on a winter Wednesday night. "

" Here I am again to suggest a better show in the same month for half the price: Broken social scene and Kevin Drew's tour for Spirit if... Check it out November 5th. You'll thank me. "

" Are you serious? I didnt know that the ISU and IWU students were fans of Elmo. News to me. "

" Uh, are you serious? Do you know how popular Evanescence is right now? Apparently not...I guess you must be a Chicago fan still stuck in the 80's.... "

" Are you kidding me? Two more shows the Coliseum doesn't want. Elmo will draw more here. "
