Fire damages Atlanta home

ATLANTA — Fire damaged a home early Thursday in Atlanta, but nobody was seriously injured.
A woman and her teenage daughter escaped from the home on Louisa Street after the fire woke the woman about 4:40 a.m., said Atlanta Fire Chief Ric Cheek.
The woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, and Cheek said he did not think the daughter received treatment because of the fire.
The flames were contained to a living room and were extinguished in about five minutes, the chief said.
There was extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the rest of the house and it cannot be occupied, he said.
The state fire marshal’s office was called to investigate. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday evening, Cheek said.
Firefighters from Armington and McLean also were called for assistance, he said.
