Career expo aimed at eighth-graders
BLOOMINGTON — The McLean County Community Compact and the Bloomington Area Vocational Center will host a career expo geared toward eighth-graders Wednesday.
Nearly 2,000 students are expected to attend the event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Interstate Center, 2301 W. Market St., Bloomington.
The program will give eighth-grade students heading into high school an early peek at area business and technical careers.
Immediately following the expo, the site will host an open house for high school students interested in the vocational center’s tech education programs.

Pedestrian bridge closed
HEYWORTH — Heyworth officials have closed a pedestrian bridge that spans a creek on North Joselyn Street after a structural analysis revealed wood supports are rotting away and the bridge is in danger of collapse.
NCHS celebrates homecoming
NORMAL — Normal Community High School has announced the homecoming king and queen for 2007.
This year’s king is Ross VanDongen, son of Carla and Dirk VanDongen of Towanda. The queen is Erika Hanson, daughter of Lana and Daniel Hanson of Normal.
The homecoming court consisted of Varun Joseph, Connor Lott, Jeremy Madison, Matt Staley, Amy Campbell, Hali Daniels, Angie Schenkel and Stephanie Turrentine.
Homecoming was Friday.
