Freshman Rosenkranz latest Titan point guard with an injury
BLOOMINGTON — Point guard is becoming a bit of a sore point with the Illinois Wesleyan basketball team.
With potential point guard starters Andrew Gilmore and Sean Dwyer still working their way back from injuries, the Titans have lost freshman point guard Travis Rosenkranz indefinitely to a back injury.
“He started feeling some soreness in his back the end of last week,” IWU coach Ron Rose said Thursday. “He saw the trainer and the doctor and there is some indication it might be a stress fracture in his lower back. He’ll have a bone scan (today) to determine if it’s a current injury or a past stress fracture.”
A product of Macon Meridian High School, Rosenkranz was considered a potential starter as a freshman.
“We’re in a wait and see mode. For the time being, he’s out,” said Rose. “It’s certainly not the start Travis was hoping for, but he’s a tough kid. He’ll get through that.”
Gilmore (knee surgery) and Dwyer (broken foot) are practicing on a limited basis this week.
The Titans open their season Nov. 16 against Tri-State at the Albion (Mich.) Tournament.
