Area volleyball: Lincoln bounces Peoria

Molly Goodrich had 11 service points including two aces and handed out 18 assists to lead Lincoln to a 25-17, 25-10 win over host Peoria Central.

Ashley Meyrick hammered 10 kills and put up four blocks for Lincoln (19-14).

Olympia comes back

Olympia rallied from a 9-0 game one deficit to notch a 30-28, 25-20 win over Mahomet-Seymour on Senior Night at Stanford.

The Spartans (23-6, 10-4) got six kills and two blocks from Lydia Schmidgall, 15 assists from Kelsey Heiser and 14 digs from Britney Hendricks.

Mahomet-Seymour (20-11, 8-6) was led by Sam Frisby with 17 service points including two aces. Mel Weimer dished out 23 assists and Lindsey Storm recorded 10 kills.

Eureka downs Pontiac

Eureka’s Casie Wherley had 13 assists and Sarah Moyer 11 service points in a 27-25, 25-15 win over Pontiac at Eureka (8-17, 3-11).

Loni Mackinson led Pontiac (10-16, 4-10) with 19 assists and teammate Kati Bates had 11 kills.

Mount Pulaski triumphs

Elizabeth Fanning had 11 digs, Jeri Kaye Turner 10 kills and Ellen Olson recorded nine assists for Mount Pulaski in a 25-18, 25-17 win over Tri-City at Buffalo.

Clinton falls to Monticello

Despite 10 digs and two kills from Sarah Blythe, Clinton dropped a 25-21, 25-14 Okaw Valley Conference decision to Monticello at Clinton.

Clinton (10-23, 2-9) got five kills from Megan Mitchell while Meghan Matthews chipped in five assists, four digs and two kills.

Illini Central falls

Despite 14 assists from Kelsey Laugel, Illini Central (18-11) lost at Williamsville.

McLean County Tournament

El Paso-Gridley downs Tri-Valley:
Janelle James led top-seeded El Paso-Gridley with 12 kills, 18 digs and nine service points in a 25-15, 22-25, 25-19 win over No. 4 seed Tri-Valley to advance to the title match of the McLean County Tournament to face Lexington at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lexington.

The Titans improved to 21-5 while Tri-Valley fell to 20-6. The Vikings face Deer Creek-Mackinaw for third place at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Lexington dispatches Dee-Mack: Lexingon’s Maddie Meyers had 12 kills on the way to a 25-20, 18-25, 25-22 semifinal win over No. 2 Deer Creek-Mackinaw.

Haley Thurmond tallied 17 kills for Dee-Mack (23-3) and teammate Lauren Schmidt had 21 digs.

Tri-Valley bests Flanagan: In the quarterfinals, Lauryn Reiners had 18 kills and Michelle Composto 18 digs for Tri-Valley in a 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 win over No. 12 seed Flanagan.

Karie Timmerman led No. 12-seeded Flanagan with 12 kills.

Tremont trips Fisher: Tremont’s Lyndsie Watson had 13 kills in a 25-23, 25-15 sweep over No. 9 seed Fisher in the consolation semifinals.

Tremont (15-12) faces Ridgview for the consolation title at 4 p.m. Saturday

Ridgeview sinks LeRoy: No. 10-seeded Ridgeview upended No. 11 LeRoy, 25-23, 25-15, in the consolation semifinals. Jill Morgan had four kills for LeRoy.

Tremont drops GCMS: Tremont advanced to the consolation semifinals with a 25-14, 25-6 win over No. 13-seeded GCMS (6-20). Brie Schweigert had seven kills for the Turks.

Flanagan bumps Blue Ridge: Flanagan’s Karie Timmerman had seven kills and Kenzie Mogged six in a 25-20, 25-17 win over No. 8 seed Blue Ridge in the fifth-place bracket semifinals.

Flanagan (12-20) faces Fieldcrest for fifth place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Fieldcrest downs Heyworth: Sara Stremlau had eight kills to lead No. 6-seeded Fieldcrest (15-10-3) to a 25-18, 25-13 victory over No. 7 Heyworth (15-14) to advance to the fifth-place match. Laura Klawitter had four kills for Heyworth.

SVC Tournament

Tri-Point edges Momence:
Kaitlyn Krause had 13 service points and Jessica Jergens 10 to lead Tri-Point to a 25-23, 25-21 win over Momence in first-round consolation play of the Sangamon Valley Conference Tournament at Gilman.

Brooke Conkling added eight assists while teammate Morgan Tharp provided five kills for the Chargers.

Watseka clips Tri-Point: Watseka’s Becca Kochel smashed 12 kills and teammate Ali Cowan had 13 digs as the Warriors edged Tri-Point, 29-27, 26-24.

Brooke Conkling led Tri-Point (6-20) with 16 assists and Morgan Tharp had 10 service points.

The Warriors (17-13) meet St. Joseph-Ogden in the consolation final at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Paxton.

St. Joseph-Ogden eliminates Iroquois West: Iroquois West was unable to contain Andrea Northen of St. Joseph-Ogden as the Raiders fell, 25-8, 25-9, in the consolation semifinals at Gilman.

Northen registered match highs with 14 service points and 12 digs. Samantha Ishmiel had eight digs and two service points to lead Iroquois West (5-24).
