Man caught during burglary to vehicle
NORMAL — An 18-year-old man accused of attempting to burglarize a vehicle in the 400 block of South Adelaide Street was apprehended by a resident in the neighborhood, according to Normal police.
Another vehicle in the same block and one on adjacent Dale Street had been entered and items taken, a police report said.
After being subdued by the resident, the man was arrested and placed into custody when police arrived.
Police recovered an employment identification card, a flashlight, sunglasses and a tool kit that had been taken from the vehicles, the report said.
Burglary — An 18 year-old Illinois State University student faces burglary charges after he reportedly was seen breaking into a vehicle.
Erik M. Hoeniges of Haynie Hall was arrested at 3:30 a.m. Saturday after he was detained by the vehicle’s owner, Normal police said.
The victim identified some of his property found in Hoeniges’ possession, police said. No details were given on what was taken.
