Road Updates 10/22/07
Oct. 22 Bloomington-Normal -- Various streets in uptown Normal are affected by the Marriott hotel project. -- Broadway Avenue between Phoenix Avenue and North Street will be closed to through traffic until further notice (likely spring 2009) for Marriott and infrastructure improvements. -- Beaufort between Fell Avenue and Constitution Trail is closed through early 2009. Beaufort between Fell and Broadway is closed through late 2008. -- The intersection of Beaufort and Broadway is closed through approximately early 2009. Access to the drive that runs behind Wright’s Printing, Jimmy John’s, etc. is anticipated to remain open. -- Constitution Trail between Mulberry and the railroad tracks is closed through late 2008. -- Towanda Avenue between Emerson Street and Jersey Avenue in Bloomington will be closed starting Aug. 1 for an undetermined time. -- Interstate 55 will be resurfaced from Interstate 39 at Normal to Veterans Parkway interchange until Nov. 30. Also, significant delays are expected in that area as workers install raised reflective pavement markers. Work should be complete by Nov. 30. -- The driving lane will be closed on both east- and westbound sides of Interstate 74 from Interstate 55 to east of U.S. 51 in Bloomington for pavement patching until Oct. 30. Central Illinois -- Work continues on repairing Interstate 74 bridges at Kickapoo Creek near Downs until Nov. 30, but all lanes are open and no delays are expected now. -- Danvers/Carlock Road is closed from 5397 E. 2050 North Road to 600 East Road, and 500 East Road from 1950 North Road to 20161 N. 500 East Road until further notice. Danvers/Carlock Road will be closed from North Street in Danvers to the I-74 interchange at Carlock through Oct. 31. -- The Carlock weigh station being rehabilitated on Interstate 74 until December. -- Interstate 39 will be reduced to one lane on both north- and southbound sides from three miles south of Illinois 116 to one mile north of Illinois 116 for patching and overlay until May 2008. -- Significant delays are expected on Interstate 55 from I-39 at Normal to the Veterans Parkway interchange with I-55 as workers install raised reflective pavement markers.
