Butorac wins cross country title/b>
Austin Butorac, an eight-grader at Trinity Lutheran School, won the Illinois Lutheran School state cross country meet Oct. 13 at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.
Butorac covered the 2-mile course in 11 minutes, 52 seconds as the Trinity finished third as a team. Brendan Hoskins, a seventh-grader at Trinity Lutheran, finished sixth in 12:22.
Thoroughbreds win baseball league/b>
The Thoroughbreds won the championship of the Twin City Men’s Senior/Adult Baseball League on Oct. 13 with a 12-2 victory over the Trotters. Matt Wingstrom (6-0) pitched all nine innings for the Thoroughbreds, allowing seven hits and striking out eight. He also had three hits, including a solo home run. Eric Hjerpe was 5 for 5 with five RBI for the Thoroughbreds, who finished the season with an 8-3 record. The Trotters were 7-4.
McLean Seniors announce awards/b>
The McLean County Senior Golf Association held its season-ending banquet where the following awards were presented to Morrie Judd (medalist medallion), John Hirsh (in-county net),, Richard Eade (out-of-county net), Ty Whitmer (in-county gross), Erv Peterson (out-of-county gross).
Officers and board members for 2008 are John Grootenhuis, president; Bill Hanfland, vice president; Theresa Yuncker, secretary; Ken Wagoner, treasurer; Don Wilkey, past president; and Dick West, statistician.
