Abuse attempt — A 51-year-old Bloomington man is accused of trying to sexually abuse a teenage girl Saturday.

John C. Denight, of the 200 block of East Douglas Street, was jailed Tuesday in lieu of $7,500 on charges of attempted criminal sexual abuse and indecent solicitation of a child. A court file says he tried to abuse a girl between the ages of 13 and 17.

Marijuana — A 21-year-old man is accused of possessing marijuana Monday.

Brandon C. Klein was jailed in lieu of $1,000 on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana. He is listed in a court file at addresses in the 500 block of North Lee Street and in Mishawaka, Ind.

Battery — A 25-year-old man from Normal is accused of grabbing a pregnant woman around her neck, pushing her, breaking a mirror and damaging a wall Tuesday.

Cortece L. Lofton, of the 1700 block of Rockingham Drive, was jailed Tuesday in lieu of $500 on charges of aggravated battery, unlawful restraint domestic battery and criminal damage to property.

MP3 players taken from two cars

NORMAL — Two MP3 players were stolen from two cars in the 1500 block of North Franklin Avenue between Oct. 15 and 18, Normal police reports said.

Car burglary — An MP3 player was stolen from a car Oct. 17 or 18 in the 400 block of East Emerson Street, a Normal police report said.

Purse stolen — A 79-year-old woman reported her purse was stolen from The Salvation Army, 409 W. Washington St., a Bloomington police report said. The theft, which occurred Oct. 11, was reported to police 11 days later.

Van stolen — A 1998 maroon Ford Windstar was stolen Oct. 20 from Mason and Grove Streets, a Bloomington police report said.

Stolen car — Someone stole a Chrysler PT Cruiser Sunday or Monday from a parking lot in Normal, police said.

The vehicle was taken sometime during those two days in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue, police said.
